
Apple’s Developers Conference
Apple’s yearly Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) was held in San Fran 6 June.
They previously announced – and kept to it – that it would be ‘software only’ event, no hardware at all.

WWDC Keynote topics
During the keynote given by Steve Jobs and others, highlights were:
- OS X Lion – Mac Operating System
- iOS5.0 – available in Spring
- iCloud – new digital hub for your data

iPhone OS 3.1 released
As part of the keynote at Apple’s “It’s Only Rock and Roll” event, it was announced that the updated operating system for the iPhone (& iPod touch) was being rolled out.

Some other key features of the update are:
- Genius recommendations now also with apps
- New organisation of your apps
- Wireless download of ringtones – now 30,000 available on iTunes
- Movies, TV, podcasts for download via Wi-Fi
- Stereo bluetooth
- Peer-to-peer gaming
- Cut, copy & paste
- Shake to Shuffle
- and more
How to Update
OS 3.1 is a free update for iPhone owners ($5.99 for owners of the previous iPod touch).
