Although less Australians are said to be experiencing the iPhone 4 death grip, you’ve still got a chance to get a free iPhone case from Apple.
SO… if you have already bought yourself the brand spanking shiny new Apple iPhone 4 – but are yet to take up Apple’s offer, here’s how to go about it…
How to Get your iPhone Case
You get the iPhone 4 Case Program App from the iTunes store, register your details and away you go!
The iPhone 4 Case Program app is free to download
- Launch the app on your iPhone 4
- Sign in using your iTunes store account or Apple ID
- Then select your cover… and wait for it to arrive.
Apple Fine Print
For iPhone 4 purchases made before July 23, 2010, you must apply no later than August 22, 2010; otherwise, you must apply within 30 days of your iPhone 4 purchase. To qualify for this program, you must purchase your iPhone 4 by September 30, 2010.”

Insurance
Our first advice would be to consider taking insurance on your iPhone handset at the time of purchase (or contract signing). That is unless it’s already covered on your home and contents insurance (check!).
There are many things that Apple or your Telco will not accept for warranty. For example, did you know that using your iPhone when your hair is slightly damp can easily cause irreversible water damage?
Too many iPhone owners have been hurt by accidental damage like that in the early stages of their contract, then stuck paying it out, or paying a hefty sum for replacement.

Ongoing saga with iPhone 4 reception
Apple has received more media coverage over the last couple of weeks for their iPhone 4 then on the actual release date.
The admission of signal software issues (and an iOS 4 update released), alongside huge complaints about the iPhone 4 reception, and talk of an iPhone 4 recall.
Analysts suggest that Apple realises it would cost millions less just to provide the free iPhone case.
Apple News Conference
So, Apple chief executive Steve Jobs announced during a news conference on 16 July that to alleviate the reception death grip issue, they would provide a free iPhone cover to the more than three million people who have bought the iPhone 4. As well, those purchasing up until 30 September will be eligible for the free protective case. Those who have already purchased the “Bumper” cases will be refunded.
