Apple Event

“Let’s Talk iPhone”

The long awaited event has now been scheduled. Or so it would appear from invites extended (to people far more superior to myself) to an Apple event on 4 October. (source Mashable)

Now, I won’t call it the Apple iPhone 5 event – as that’s still heresay and conjecture – but it is expected as the event to unveil the next generation Apple iPhone. But just what will the Apple iPhone 5 (or whatever they’ll call it) bring – a bigger screen, a better camera (8Mp), more memory onboard. Oh and “Let’s Talk iPhone” … a hint at voice recognition? Also, in another twist, the event is being held at Apple’s Campus in Cupertino, not their usual style for a ‘big product media event’. So what gives?!

I’m sure there’ll still be “one more thing” even with Apple’s new CEO, Tim Cook at the helm.

Interestingly, there’s no talk at all of a new iPod lineup.

What do you think will happen?

We’ll just have to diarise 4 October and wait and see!

Apple iTunes

Tool up Tradies

Updated apps and info

Now, we’re not sure of the popularity or uptake of iPhones on building sites. Your co-workers might just give you too much grief to start with.

It’s also hard to imagine such an expensive gadget lasting long on site – it’s just not hardy enough! Unless of course it’s paired with the NEW Gumdrop Drop Series for iPhone 4 protection case.

But would it be handy on site?

Look at the most obvious reasons you could use an iPhone on site:

  • Mobile phone: Clearly, it can seemlessly replace your existing mobile phone (like no sh*t)
  • MP3 player: Keep the music playing by replacing your existing MP3 player with the onboard iPod – or radio (download a radio app)
  • Internet: You could check the web for best priced tools (like eBay v Bunnings), closest local Friday afternoon drinks etc
  • GPS: And of course, the iPhone has GPS which can help you get from job site to job site quickly.

But these are features we’ve seen in other mobile phones… so what’s the iPhone got that others don’t? More apps than you can poke a hammer at!

iPhone Applications…

There are now thousands of applications for iPhone (and iPod touch) in the iTunes store.  But which ones would help a tradie?

There are so many apps that could help do the menial or the big jobs. Check some of these out:
