Air NZ to allow texting

Air New Zealand is seeking regulatory approval to allow texting on iPhones (and other smartphones) by the year end.

The carrier’s new Boeing 777-300 fleet will be designed to allow passengers to text messages from their iPhone, Blackberry and GSM mobile phones; however voice calls will still be banned. Mobile Broadband and sending emails is also planned.”

Like other global roaming plans, customers will be billed by their own mobile service provider, but in-flight costs will apply.

It will be a requirement that mobile phones are on silent mode, however we all know how inconsiderate many public transport commuters are already, without adding this annoyance to flying.

Apple announced this week their annual WWDC:

CUPERTINO, California—April 28, 2010—Apple® today announced that it will hold its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) June 7 through June 11 at San Francisco’s Moscone West. The five-day conference includes the first ever iPad™ development sessions and hands-on working labs for iPhone® OS 4, as well as Mac OS® X core technology labs.”

New iPhones have previously been included as part of the annual Developers Conference keynotes (WWDC 08 and WWDC09), so rumours are of course rife that an Apple iPhone 4G will be announced.

Thinner, flatter shape, heavier? Who knows?

Who even knows whether all the hype surrounding the “found 4G iPhone” wasn’t started by Apple…

More rumours for upcoming iPhone

Just a quick iPhone update…

Engadget have released some pics of the supposed iPhone 4G.

The design seems unlikely, or quite a step away from the existing stylish iPhones…

What do you think?

It appears Apple will launch their new iPhone 22 June, as they have a venue booked for that day, and it’s historically about the right timeframe.
