Reportedly an insurance scam (new or old?) relates to people buying iPhones online, or from newspaper adverts etc.

Once bought and paid for, the seller then reports it lost or stolen and the iPhone / mobile phone is blocked (then claimed on insurance and replaced).

Not sure how prevalent this may be, but it again raises the issue of being vigilant and not leaving yourself open to this kind of fraud.

Don’t buy second hand items without first checking if the IMEI is blocked, without written receipt, without taking sellers proof of name/address from a bill etc. Meet with the seller in person wherever possible.

These are all facts you need to witness firsthand, not just believe them over the phone etc.

All commonsence practices I’d have thought, but then, I trust no-one ;)
