iTunes update – and how it benefits an iPhone user…

iTunes Wi-Fi & 3G

Apple announced that you can now preview and purchase music on your iPhone 3G from iTunes anywhere over 3G network, without needing a Wi-Fi hotspot, then sync back to your computer once home.

Apple says “same quality, same selection, same price”

iTunes Plus

DRM free iTunes music.  Higher quality encoding tunes able to be played on as many iPhones or computers as you own. 8 millions songs available now DRM-free, all 10 million songs will be available by the end of Q1.

New purchases will come DRM-free. To take advantage of DRM-free tracks on your existing catalogue though, you need to upgrade your current tracks to DRM-free music at a price of $0.30 per song.

New prices

A new pricing structure will also be in place in April – $0.69, $0.99 or $1.29 (depending on what record labels charge).

How’s this tip benefit an iPhone user? So, if you aim to mostly buy $0.69 songs, then you have more to spend on iPhone accessories.

Only kidding… ;)
