iPhone fever confirmed for Australia

Australia feasts on Apple’s iPhone pie

“iPhone this”  “iPhone 3g that” “iPhone apps galore”

If you keep hearing so much about the iPhone here in Oz, it may just be because just about every other Aussie either has one, or knows someone who has, or …

CNET: Apple iPhone stats:

Apple delivered 125,000 iPhone 3Gs to Australia within the first three months of it’s launch last July

“Why so many iPhones?”

  • Not surprising I guess, given we’d been made wait for so long for the iPhone here in Australia.
  • Add to this the fact that it meant so many punters could even stay with their current service provider.
  • Of course – the iTunes iPhone Apps store should rate a mention – and how much productivity can either increase or decline (depending on your choice of iPhone Apps).

Though, according to analysts, they still have a long way to go to pip Nokia as the main mobile phone of choice.

BUT, it is only the first iPhone release here – and we know there is so much more where it came from…

Apple keynote at Macworld 2009 – iTunes

iTunes update – and how it benefits an iPhone user…

iTunes Wi-Fi & 3G

Apple announced that you can now preview and purchase music on your iPhone 3G from iTunes anywhere over 3G network, without needing a Wi-Fi hotspot, then sync back to your computer once home.

Apple says “same quality, same selection, same price”

iTunes Plus

DRM free iTunes music.  Higher quality encoding tunes able to be played on as many iPhones or computers as you own. 8 millions songs available now DRM-free, all 10 million songs will be available by the end of Q1.

New purchases will come DRM-free. To take advantage of DRM-free tracks on your existing catalogue though, you need to upgrade your current tracks to DRM-free music at a price of $0.30 per song.

New prices

A new pricing structure will also be in place in April – $0.69, $0.99 or $1.29 (depending on what record labels charge).

How’s this tip benefit an iPhone user? So, if you aim to mostly buy $0.69 songs, then you have more to spend on iPhone accessories.

Only kidding… ;)
