iPhone girl receiving online celebrity status
A Chinese company’s factory worker – who was working on the production line for the new Apple iPhone – has become an overnight celebrity after her smiling face was accidentally loaded onto an iPhone.
The company, Foxconn, is in Shenzhen. The unidentified worker simply flashed a cute smile and peace sign at her co-worker, whose job it was to test the device’s camera.
The woman’s colleague forgot to delete the photo before it was shipped out.
Once sold to a UK consumer, he found the photos saved on his brand new handset and posted the news of his find onto the MacRumours forum – and it has since spread like wildfire!
Dedicated sites have been set up and speculation is rife as to the smiley girl’s identity. However, I’m sure she would prefer being left alone – and her identity secure?!
The company spokesperson said:
Apple was very understanding and that the Taiwan-based manufacturer was working with the computer giant to prevent similar incidents from reoccurring
Most people’s reaction so far is that it was a nice touch.
One person posted: “It would be great for every Chinese worker who makes your iPhones to take a snap of herself or her factory friends … a hello from a person you would never otherwise meet.”
Great to hear she’s still employed. Just hope she’s not hounded down.
