“Which is better – the iPod touch or iPhone?”

iPod touch v iPhone

Believe it or not… not everyone converted to the iPhone 3G the moment it came out in Australia.

Some are still on the bench.  Even some Apple fans…

iPod touch?

Just say,’til now you’ve been completely happy with your iPod touch. You think it’s a smashing device – it’s never out of your sight!

But now, you’re starting to wonder if you need a new mobile phone, your old one’s about to die.

And you know – one with a camera (just in case you want to take a quick pick when you’re out and about, nothing professional).

iPhone

So you’ve been tossing up whether or not to jump in and sign away your life on the shiny Apple iPhone 3G.

Should you? or shouldn’t you?

What’s the benefits of each? or more importantly, what extra benefits would the iPhone provide?

Wouldn’t one device be much easier to carry around?

I came across this great review of someone who’s been down that path – and is now loving her iPhone.

iPhone Apps are a major headturner for those who switch across to the iPhone… The availability of so many free apps even moreso.

Techrader reviewed a handful of Free iPhone Apps.

Some are obvious – like AIM (AOL), Facebook, some not so much.

Due to the overwhelming amount of applications available, some of those on the list also contend with a handful that do the same thing – like Twitteriffic for eg.

There’s always much talk about which iPhone app is the best for Twitter fans.  [Are you on Twitter? If so, why not follow us.]

Another mentioned – Midomi – could easily (should?) be replaced by Shazam, which is also free to download, but which has a much better database.

You just never know when you’re at Pub Trivia stuck trying to ‘guess that song’.

Updated OS for iPhone

It is rumoured, yet to be trumoured, that the 2.2 release is due on 21 November.

Some of the suggested features are:

  • ‘New look’ Safari browse interface
  • Street View for Google Maps, plus pedestrian/walking directions & ’share location’
  • Public transport info (how relevant – or relevant to where?)

We heard just recently that the iPod is cheapest in Australia … now wouldn’t it be great if price dropping happened to put Australia in first place price-wise for the iPhone.

Well, we know not to dream that night, with how much we pay here.

But it seems that iPhone price dropping is occuring overseas, so maybe we just have to keep waiting with fingers crossed!  And legs and toes and eyes

There is also gossip circulating that Apple may release a new iPhone in January.

But let’s not count all our chickens before they’re hatched. Idle gossip usually is just that!
